Walnut Country Preschool is a not-for-profit (501c3) preschool, licensed by the State of California, Department of Social Services License #073404935. We are located in The Crossings at Walnut Country neighborhood in Concord.
The purpose of our preschool is to prepare the preschool age child for a successful educational future. The preschool is operated on a nondiscriminatory basis, according equal treatment and access to services without regard to race, color, religion, national origin or ancestry. We provide a happy, loving, and secure learning environment where the children are exposed to a balanced variety of positive experiences. This kind of a learning environment promotes social, emotional, intellectual and physical development in each child.
Walnut Country Preschool encourages are parents to get involved. Interested parents are given the opportunity to serve on a Parent Board and to work in the classroom as Parent Assists. Parents who work in the classroom share in their child's first school experience. This opportunity is encouraged though not required. Parents are able to choose for themselves how involved they want to be in the preschool.
Goals and Objectives
Our primary focus is to help children acquire social competence and the skills they need to succeed as learners. We know that school readiness means knowing how to interact with others, showing kindness, compassion, practicing patience, honoring diversity and developing a positive self-image.
Our highly qualified staff is dedicated to providing a learning environment in which all children feel safe, comfortable, and loved. In addition to our Director, we have a head teacher, who develops the curriculum, as well as two other classroom teachers. Several of our staff have been with us for many years, as parents and, later, as teachers.
Board of Directors
Walnut Country Preschool, Inc., is a non-profit corporation run by parents of attending preschoolers. The Board meets once a month and works with the Director to see that the preschool operates properly under state directed guidelines. The Board also supports the Director in carrying out administrative functions. The Board is comprised of a director, chairperson, treasurer, secretary, head room parent, fundraising coordinator, Parent Assist coordinator, and purchasing agent.
